Abstract

The authors present both brief and more detailed descriptions of the Legal Argument Game of LEGAL RELATIONS together with the official rules that define the game. The Language of LEGAL RELATIONS is a representation language for expressing rules and arguments in the legal domain based upon the work of Wesley Hohfeld. Definitions and rules of inference (both assumed and some derived) used in the reasoning of the arguments constructed in the course of playing are set out. A pair of sample matches are described to illustrate the strategies and course of play of this game for use in becoming fluent in the LEGAL RELATIONS Language.
