Abstract

The authors survey the emerging law on meta tags embedded in webpages in relation to trademarks, unfair competition law and allowed uses. Cases in Europe and the USA are examined. In the authors' view protection of intellectual property rights should be compatible with easy access to information on the Internet facilitated by certain uses of meta tags.
