Multimedia Content and the Super Highway: Rapid Acceleration or Foot on the Brake?
Abstract
This article discusses emerging legal issues concerning copyright/patent protection of material used in multimedia applications. Describes existing processes for the administration of copyright/patent material in the US and the deficencies of traditional rights agreements where material is used in multimedia products. Cites recent reports from Japan concerning the advantages of streamlining copyright/patent administration and proposes the establishment of a US based copyright/patent clearinghouse for multimedia materials.
