Electronic Litigation Filing in the USA, Australia and Germany: a Comparison
Abstract
The establishment of computer technology with network, internet and electronic mailing capabilities in courts provides an outstanding opportunity to organize internal procedures with a secure environment creating and efficient, flexible system that reduces time constraints and is vastly more cost effective. Perhaps the most outstanding and challenging development in this context is electronic court filing. Using the US, Australian and German law as examples for the developments in three heterogeneous but important jurisdictions, this paper examines the similarities and differences in the approach towards electronic filing.
