Abstract

This article reviews the 1995 "Seymour Report" on fetal welfare and the law, which was commissioned by the Australian Medical Association. The report attempted to balance the interests of the pregnant woman with the welfare of the fetus she is carrying, and concluded that education and information are preferable to legal sanctions as means for securing fetal welfare.
