Abstract

This article explains the legal reasons for shareholders having to pay for their shares in companies, and the different ways in which shares can be paid for. It also explains the different types of shares that exist in the world of finance. The primary focus is on the United Kingdom and Zambia, where discussion on cases and legislation are used to discuss the problems existing with regards to the purchase of shares and shareholder rights.
