The PPSA Cometh to Australia? An Introduction to the Current State of Play
Abstract
Australia has a lengthy history of considering reform of the law governing security over personal property, including reform along the lines of Article 9 of the United States UCC and the Canadian PPSAs. Most recently, we have seen the widespread distribution, since late 2001, of a draft Personal Property Security Bill for Australia. This paper describes the orgins of this draft, its content, the support it has attracted and its possible future.
