Abstract

Peter van Hattem in his article, ‘Native Title and other impediments to Pipeline Development’ describes the implications of Native Title for Pipeline Developers. The article aims to identify the risk for gas pipeline developers and explains how such risk can be managed and assessed. It gives practical advice on negotiating agreements, calculating compensation and participating in arbitration in the National Native Title Tribunal. Also discussed are proposed amendments to the Native Title Act, which could impact on gas pipeline development.
