On the EdgePapers from the 7th Asia Pacific Specials, Health and Law Librarians Conference on the edge, are now available in a fully searchable format. Library science and practice papers predominate but papers from legal practitioners and academics are included as well as papers from an anthropologist and field worker with the National Native Title Tribunal make this collection worth viewing. [I have to admit to being involved in this very successful conference, hence the promotion and the brievity of this issue of netwatch!]
Topics of interest to legal researchers include native title agreements, mining and native title, intellectual property issues in Asia, Australian territories law, law and the internet, medico legal issues, copyright and databases, decision making in relation to death, alternative dispute resolution, finding Indonesian law, and more...

Pecuniary Interest Tribunal Publications via the web. NSW Department of Local Government
The Local Government Pecuniary Interest Tribunal is constituted under Chapter 14, Part 4, of the Local Government Act 1993 to hold hearings into and decide allegations of contraventions of Part 2 of that Chapter (which deals with duties of disclosure of pecuniary interests) and to perform such other functions as are conferred or imposed on it by the Act (section 489).

The Avalon Project, Yale Law School. Although not a new site it is worth revisiting to glance at the legal, political and historical documents. The documents are grouped under the headings pre-18th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

United Nations Development Programme Sustainable Human Development (UNDP) includes many useful links and documents. The Permanent Missions to the United Nations contain a wide ranging and diverse set of links relevant to each mission. For example the Korean Mission includes links to Korean newspapers, the Algerian Mission includes the Algerian Constitution in English and French. Worth considering as a starting point for information about countries which have Permanent Missions to the UN.

Judical Practice

The Case Against Judge Lorin Duckman - The State Commission on Judicial Conduct has recommended, by a vote of 7 to 4, that Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Lorin Duckman be removed from the bench. In one of the most controversial judicial conduct cases in recent New York history, the Commission found Judge Duckman 'is a biased, intemperate judge who deliberately misapplies the law and abuses judicial powers.' Decisions, reports and documents relating to this case and general discussion of judicial independence.

Eurodicautom: "a translators best friend on the Web". Need to verify terms and abbreviations in various European languages try this resource. The Source and Target languages are Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, and Finnish; you can search for terms or abbreviations, and limit to particular subjects, including Customs, Economics, Employment, Environment, Finance, Insurance, Law, Taxation, Telecom, Trade. Very easy to use.
