Enjoy a movie under the stars

Murdoch University will welcome local moviegoers to its Perth campus again this summer, with the return of Telethon Community Cinemas on 26 November.
Telethon Community Cinemas is back for its seventh season at Murdoch.
A secluded grassed area on the corner of South Street and Murdoch Drive has once again been transformed into an outdoor cinema, where moviegoers can enjoy some of the summer’s biggest blockbusters, family favourites and other cult classics.
The family-friendly cinema proudly donates all profits (more than $9.5 million to date), to charities focused on improving the quality of life of Western Australian children in need.
This year, funds raised will be donated to charities including Telethon, Horsepower, Make A Wish, Cahoots, Rebound, Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA, 12 Buckets & Type 1 Diabetes WA.
With COVID-19 restrictions still in place in Western Australia, Telethon Community Cinemas have taken steps to ensure the safety of cinema guests and volunteers.
Hand sanitiser stations will be located at the cinema entrance and kiosk counters. Spaced seating and other health and safety measures have been introduced in line with Government restrictions. More information about the steps Telethon Community Cinemas is taking to keep the community safe, healthy and well is available on the event website.
Organiser Ken Gibbons said he was delighted to once again partner with Murdoch University to bring this much-loved cinematic experience to the people of Perth.
“We are unique among the outdoor cinemas of Perth in what we bring to the community. All profits from the season are proudly donated to charities dedicated to improving the quality of life for children living with a health or physical ability crisis,” Mr Gibbons said.
“This season is particularly special, and we’re delighted to be doing what we can to bring some joy to the local community after the challenges posed by COVID-19 in 2020.
“And none of this would be possible without the more than 500 volunteers who donate their time each year to run the event.”
Ample free parking is available on-site in car park 1 at the University, just off South Street. Alternatively, our Perth campus is easy to reach by public transport.
Murdoch's cinema season will continue until 17 April.
