Graduations celebrated in Singapore

Murdoch University was delighted to welcome another generation to its thriving alumni community in Singapore last week.
Around 520 graduands were conferred with degrees during two ceremonies on 17 March in Singapore.Dean of Murdoch Singapore Associate Professor Peter Waring said it was a memorable experience for all.
“Murdoch is delighted to welcome another 520 graduates to our 17,000 strong alumni family in Singapore,” Professor Waring said.
“We are confident that our graduates will go on to make significant contributions to Singapore’s economy, community and wellbeing in important areas such as cyber-security, psychology and banking among many others.”
Two outstanding Valedictorians, Yeo Keng Mui and Tang Kwan Yu, shared their personal experiences with the graduating classes and their loved ones attending the ceremonies.
Yeo Keng Mui undertook a Bachelor of Commerce while working and being a mother to three young children.
Working in a bank, she wanted to develop her skills in management and further her career in the finance industry.
“I plucked up my courage and signed up to a degree course with Murdoch University two years ago. And today, my dream came true,” she said.
“I urge you to pursue the bigger dreams in your life and always remember your dreams are never too big, and you are never too old to pursue them. Always be a matchstick that lights a fire!”
Each ceremony concluded with a spectacular cultural performance by two members of the Noongar nation, Mr Olman Walley and Miss Rickeeta Walley.
