PITCHFEST is more than just a competition, it's a catalyst for innovation and a springboard for the next generation of entrepreneurs,” Launchpad Program and Events Coordinator Minh Hoang said.
“The real value lies in the connections made, the skills honed, and the empowerment these young visionaries receive to bring their startup ideas to life.”
Finalist Tallulah Chong has been developing Giveagain - a startup that offers an alternative to single-use wrapping paper in the form of 100 per cent organic and biodegradable fabric wraps that are that feature designs from local artists.
“The idea for Giveagain came from my frustration about wrapping paper waste and my willingness to design for a circular economy,” Miss Chong, said.
“It resulted in the creation of a sustainable alternative that offers a lifetime of giving in a single wrap..
“We aspire to lead Australians in envisioning a future where compassion doesn’t compromise the planet.”
The finalists will present a three-minute pitch to guests from the startup and investor community.
One lucky entrepreneur will be the recipient of a $10,000 grand prize to put towards funding their project.
In preparation for the big day, the finalists took part in a pitching workshop with public speaking expert and TEDx coach Shil Shanghavi who talked about the importance of speech structure, body posture, and combating stage anxiety.
“While I’m extremely nervous about the upcoming pitch, I’m excited to put myself and what I stand for out there and see who else I may inspire to join me,” Miss Chong said.
“Being part of Launchpad’s program has been the most valuable and rewarding experience.
“Not only was I given the opportunity to realise one of my ideas, but I’ve met so many passionate and supportive like-minded individuals.
“It’s really heart-warming to join a community that fosters the growth of everyone’s own ideas and projects.”
The Launchpad Academy PITCHFEST 2023 finals will take place from 5pm on October 19 at The Platform, 3/256 Adelaide Terrace, Perth.
