Discover Boola Katitjin - Learning and Teaching Spaces

Boola Katitjin is almost complete and on track to welcome you in Semester 1, 2023!
Up to 60 per cent of classes can be taught in the new building, so chances are you’ll be studying there next year. With new spaces for you to learn, create and discover, Boola Katitjin will transform your experience at Murdoch.
This article summarises the formal teaching and learning spaces in Boola Katitjin. Next week we will explore the informal spaces, designed for both your study and social life.

Collaborative Learning Spaces
Collaborative Learning Spaces for 60, 90, and 120 students are located across Levels 2, 3, and 4. These flexible spaces have state-of-the-art technology, including screens, microphones, and tracking cameras, and feature multiple large whiteboards and digital displays allowing you to share and present with your teacher and peers. They also have movable furniture making it easier for you to engage with peers in small or large group activities.
Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Spaces
Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Spaces for 60, 90 and 120 students are located on Levels 2, 3 and 4. Equipped with the latest audio-visual and virtual collaboration tools, the TEL spaces allow you to engage in individual or group activities virtually and in person. These spaces support the creation of hybrid learning environments, where remote students can actively participate and collaborate with their in-person peers. There are also multiple large whiteboards, and all TEL desk spaces are fitted and state-of-the-art technology, including screens, microphones, and tracking cameras.
Digital Hub
You will find the Digital Hub on Level 1. This space is home to multiple venues focused on formal and informal digital learning. Included within the hub are two 60-person computer labs, a laptop lounge, a creative workshop space, and a digital immersive learning space.
Computer Lab
Fitted with the latest DELL PCs, the two 60-person computer labs suit a wide range of uses, including information technology, graphic design, media, math statistics, and geospatial data, amongst others. When not timetabled, you will be able to use this space for self-directed learning.
Creative Workshop Space
The Creative Workshop Space is designed for various uses, such as workshops, undertaking art projects, creating design models, concept mapping, ideation sessions, rehearsing multimedia performances, or working on theatrical set designs. You can bring your own personal devices and use wireless technology to connect to the computer screens fitted on the collaboration booths and the group work desks.
Digital Immersive Lab
The Digital Immersive Lab allows you to immerse yourself in virtual reality environments where you can develop a deeper understanding of complex topics and practices in a real-world simulation. The space supports activities where you can explore large data sets, experiment with machine learning, and build artificial intelligence capabilities, thanks to high-performance computers with the power for intensive data processing.
