Greetings and Farewells

The Murdoch University Art Collection Board is delighted to welcome its newest member. Jason Ricketts works as General Counsel for the Minderoo Foundation, the philanthropic organisation created by Andrew Forrest and Nicola Forrest in 2001. The Foundation is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to tackling pressing societal and environmental challenges. Its initiatives span diverse areas, including ocean health, climate change, modern slavery, cancer research, and Indigenous empowerment. The foundation funds cutting-edge research, fosters collaboration, and implements scalable solutions to improve lives and communities.
Jason also serves as General Counsel for Tattarang, the private investment group of Andrew and Nicola Forrest.
Prior to his current positions, Jason was a managing partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, including as managing partner of finance, real estate, projects and LatAm. The Board is honoured to welcome such a highly regarded industry figure and looks forward to drawing on his expertise, advice and broad business acumen.
The Board would also like to express its appreciation for the contribution of departing member, Matthew Young. Matthew joined the Board in April 2019. During his tenure, he made some considerable contributions, including a pivotal role in nurturing collaborations between Campus Development and the Art Collection. This working relationship resulted in some significant legacies including the development of the University’s Percent for Art Strategy. This strategy resulted in fertile collaborations between the Art Collection and Campus Development and the delivery of a suite of notable public art projects associated with several major capital works projects including The Student Hub, Boola Katitjin and currently the planning stages of art commissions for the Harry Butler Institute. The Board would like to thank Matthew for his dedication to these valuable contributions and wish him all the very best for his future endeavours.
