Allied Health is the collective term for the Exercise Science, Chiropractic, Counselling and Creative Arts Therapies disciplines. They aim to bring together a range of health care professions to improve the well being of the community.

They might be a new school with a new name, but the School of Allied Health is the combination of a number of well-established disciplines with strong community and industry links. Students are provided with an abundance of opportunities and placements throughout their degree.

“Our Goal is to create job ready graduates, with both nationally and internationally recognised qualifications.” Brad Wall, Dean of Allied Health said, “These are students who want to make a positive impact on the health of the community, and we aim to create a space that supports and nurtures them.”

The point of difference with the School of Allied Health, is the industry prospects such as the connection to Fiona Stanley Hospital, just a short walk from the South Street campus. Students are offered the chance to connect and network with those in their field. In addition, the school has connections with the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA), where they send both exercise science and research students to gain valuable experience in high performance sport.

The school has many well credentialed researchers, ensuring students are provided with the latest evidence to inform their practice, with research funded by WA Health, MS Australia and the Nation Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) to name a few

The school of Allied health sees the importance of embedding academics who have industry knowledge to inspire their students and this year sees Paul Goods, from the Western Australian Institute of Sport, join their midst. Its opportunities like this that make the Murdoch School of Allied Health stand out.

The connections are endless, and the professionally accredited courses mean you will be getting an industry recognised and respected degree.
