Exercise Science Alumni, finalist for Best New Starter Award

A man wearing a black shirt stands in a vibrant field, surrounded by greenery and open skies.

Anele Ngwenja, 2021 Graduate from the Discipline of Exercise Science, is emerging as a leading clinician and has been nominated as a 2024 Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association WA Finalist for the Best New Starter award!

Anele tells us:

Finding a career focused on empathy, problem-solving, and adaptability was something I always knew I valued and would allow me to wake up being able to put my best foot forward every day. Graduating from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Exercise Physiology has allowed me to achieve the goal I had in mind and opened many opportunities within the healthcare sector.

Currently, I’m working as a Rehabilitation Consultant with Kairros, a Vocational Rehab provider that specialises in prevention and recovery services for Australia’s diverse workforce. We can achieve excellent outcomes for an often-overlooked demographic in the vocational rehabilitation space: culturally and linguistically diverse populations. We can assist injured workers through Kairros’ interpreting service, servicing over 60 languages. Communication is key throughout the rehabilitation process, so by tackling the language barrier, we can better support our clients throughout their recovery journey.

The nomination came from my ability to establish strong rapport with my clients, identify their key goals and motivators, and empower them to take ownership of their recovery journeys. Bringing an adaptable, positive approach towards each day and participating in continued additional training and personal development sessions, I’ve been supported by my leadership team to have a strong foundation in the vocational rehabilitation sector and my career.”

The ceremony is in September, congratulation Anele, and we wish you and all our Alumni success.
