Murdoch’s Creative Arts Therapies (CAT) Alumni group off to a great start in 2025.

Murdoch’s Creative Arts Therapies (CAT) Alumni group launched in April 2024 following interest by graduates to stay connected to each other and the University following the completion of their post-graduate studies in Creative Arts Therapies.

The intent is to provide a forum where meetings and events can be organised, career successes celebrated, employment opportunities shared, and developments in the field of Creative and Expressive Arts Therapies disseminated. The group, which currently consists of 58 members, also aims to assist graduates stay connected to a network of colleagues and peers of qualified Creative Arts Therapists to support their individual work efforts, as well as their personal and professional wellbeing.

The CAT Alumni inaugural event was held at The Loft on the South Street campus in April 2024 and attended by 24 graduates and staff.  Following this, 7 members volunteered to take on the role of organising future events. Following their first meeting in May 2024, the CAT Alumni Organising Committee established an exclusive LinkedIn Murdoch CAT group and held a Networking Mixer event in August for 26 current and past Graduate Diploma students at the Mandurah Campus. To round out 2024, a networking breakfast for past and current Masters students took place in October, attended by 20 people who engaged in creative getting-to-know-each-other activities followed by delicious food and stimulating conversations.

2025 has gotten off to a great start, with a February event in the Murdoch Art Gallery to celebrate new Masters graduates joining the profession and welcoming them to the CAT Alumni. Regular “Creative Connections” events are also planned for throughout the year, with the first one taking place on Saturday 29th March.
