Congratulations to recent Murdoch University graduate, Lucy Kealley for receiving the PACFA Outstanding Graduate Award for academic excellence.

The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) is dedicated to promoting excellence and high standards in the counselling and psychotherapy profession.

Since 2016, PACFA’s National Awards Scheme has celebrated students’ achievements across Australia. The Outstanding Graduate Award is presented to the most exceptional students graduating from a PACFA accredited counselling or a psychotherapy program who have demonstrated exemplary academic and professional practice performance.

Lucy completed her Masters in Counselling at Murdoch University in 2023, which proved to be a transformative experience and offered Lucy a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical application to build her skills and provide her with the foundations needed for a career in counselling.

“Under the guidance of highly experienced lecturers, the coursework has imparted essential theoretical foundations and emphasised the practical application of counselling techniques.

“The lecturers at Murdoch go the extra mile to infuse their lectures with enthusiasm and engagement. Their adept use of personal experience adds a unique dimension, which provided me with practical, real-life examples that enhanced the learning experience.”

As this semester’s winner, Lucy has received a year’s complimentary PACFA registration at the Certified Practicing (New Graduate) level, a letter of congratulations and a certificate.

Looking ahead, Lucy has ambitious plans for her future.

“The comprehensive training I received at Murdoch University has equipped me with the knowledge and skills needed to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals facing diverse challenges.

“I plan to establish a private practice focusing on serving young people aged 14-25, with areas of expertise including neurodiversity, trauma, mental health, and various life issues.”
