Exercise Science Senior Lecturer awarded for Excellence in Learning & Teaching

Learning and teaching awards at Murdoch recognise excellence and high quality in educational practice, student engagement, educational experiences, and success. Dr Paul Goods has been awarded a Citation for the redevelopment of Exercise Physiology II.
Since joining Murdoch University in 2021, Dr Goods has been successful in all aspects of his role. Including promotion to Senior Lecturer in early 2024, the publication of 27 peer-reviewed research articles since joining Murdoch, and recently being appointed the Discipline Lead of Exercise Science.
Paul takes pride in ensuring the teaching quality at Murdoch University is exceptional and has been awarded a citation for Excellence in Learning and Teaching by the Pro Vice-Chancellor. This award specifically focuses on the major redevelopment of EXS302 Exercise Physiology II over three years of teaching reflective practice to provide a contemporary (blended), accessible, and inclusive education for Exercise Science students.
Exercise Physiology II is a third-year unit taken by all students enrolled in the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science / Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology, Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science / Bachelor of Psychology and Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science.
The unit teaches students to understand the acute and chronic physiological responses to exercise training and detraining. With further focus on the impact of a range of endogenous (age, sex and health) and exogenous (nutritional and environmental) factors on these physiological responses. The focus of this unit aligns with Paul’s research interests, implementing hypoxic training strategies to enhance human health and performance, and as such, the theory component of the unit is blended with applied research and practice.
