Celebrating Teaching Excellence in Engineering and Energy

Associate Professor Jonathan Whale and Senior Lecturer Dr Amirmehdi Yazdani

Murdoch University's College of STEM today celebrated outstanding teaching achievements in 2024.

Associate Professor Jonathan Whale and Dr Amirmehdi Yazdani, of the School of Engineering and Energy, spoke today on the innovations that led to their 2024 College of STEM Learning and Teaching Awards.

Associate Professor Whale was awarded his citation for “innovation that directly correlates with enhanced student outcomes, particularly in hands-on learning in the area of energy auditing, and strongly aligns with the University Strategy theme of Sustainability.” 

Dr Yazdani was awarded a Teaching Excellence Award for his work enhancing learning, innovating curriculum, and leading by example. He shared his personal experiences and reflections on implementing innovative teaching strategies suitable for engineering.

Associate Professor Whale has also been recognised at the University level, receiving a Vice Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence in Enhancing Learning. He is joined by Associate Professor GM Shafuillah, who has been awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Excellence in Postgraduate Research Supervision Award.

The School of Engineering and Energy congratulates Jonathan, Amir and GM on their awards.
