Introducing Our New Stats Lecturer

Yunwei Zhang has recently joined Murdoch as a Lecturer in Statistics in the School of Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry and Physics.
Before coming to Perth Yunwei worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Macquarie University and University of Melbourne. She completed her PhD at the University of Sydney with her thesis titled "Statistical methods for complex multi-modality kidney disease data". She did her Master of Applied Statistics in University of California, Davis and an undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics in Central China Normal University. Her background includes applied statistics, biostatistics and bioinformatics.
Her research interests are broad, including but not limited to statistical machine learning, feature selection methods, survival analysis, simulation algorithms and graphical visualisations. She works closely with health and medical collaborators on multiple interdisciplinary projects to make real-life impact in the health area.
Besides statistics, she is also a ballerina, a chocolate lover and a bubble tea lover: if you need her to agree to something, simply provide bubble tea. She is also a dedicated dance teacher for the Royal Academy of Dance, so, welcome all ballet dancers!
