Prof. Peter Langridge studied at the Australian National University and completed a post-doctoral position in Germany at the University of Freiburg. Since 2011, Peter has been Chair of the Scientific Board of the Wheat Initiative and from 2018, the International Science Coordinator. The Wheat Initiative isbased at the Julius-Kühn-Institute, Berlin and provides global coordination of wheat research. Peter also chairs several science advisory committees for research organisations in Europe and North America.
Dr Bram Govaerts is the Director General of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), Mexico.
He is renowned for pioneering, implementing and inspiring transformational changes for farmers and consumers in meeting sustainable development challenges. He brings together multi-disciplinary science and development teams to integrate sustainable, multi-stakeholder and sector strategies that generate innovation and change in agri-food systems.
Nigel has spent more than 25 years working in executive and leadership positions in large-scale infrastructure, port, warehousing and supply chains operations for the grains sector, both within Australia and internationally. Nigel has worked as an expert consultant on a range of projects in the grain supply chain from takeover bid advisory for a large listed grain company, international bench marking of bulk and container supply chains, hybrid wheat commercialisation modelling and more
Heather Brayford is the Director General of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) a seasoned public servant with over three decades of experience in fisheries, aquaculture, and natural resource management. Her extensive knowledge and expertise have been instrumental in shaping policy, regulations, and industry development in these sectors.
Prof Umberger has played influential roles in sustainable agriculture across the globe for over 20 years. She has worked on food system issues across the Indo-Pacific region and led interdisciplinary value chain research projects in Asia, Australia, North America, the Pacific Islands and South Africa. Her research has explored opportunities for smallholder agricultural households to produce high-value (horticulture, dairy, beef) food products and adopt new technology to access modern food value chains.
